Unit 8

  1. Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster “mental fitness”? Provide specific examples.
The two practice that has help the most is the Loving Kindness practice and the Visualization practice. I'm a visual person and especially after a long day, I'll do my yoga exercise and sit for a bit with my eyes closed and visualize a beautiful scenic or majestic view and get totally relaxed. Secondly, the Loving Kindness exercise, just the title itself  helps me to focus just on those words and be thankful and that usually helps me to relax and de-stress.

  1. I am a visual person as well and I can easily think of a nice beautiful place when things are stressful or tense. I love doing yoga and I have a DVD called Namaste yoga. It has some great scenery in the back ground so I just imagine I am there with them. Happy relaxation!

One of the practices I chose was the Visualization also. This exercise is very helpful as it helps bring me to a happy, peaceful place for a short period. The second I chose was the Subtle Mind as this helps me clear my thoughts and relax. I am still having difficulty with the Loving Kindness exercise. I do think it is important for me to revisit later and keep trying, but at the moment I am going to spend my time on the exercises that seem to be helping most.

  3. I picked visualization for one of mine as well. Loving-kindness for me, will not be the best one. Though I modified the two that I choose I do not think that loving-kindness can be modified. You cannot say I'm going to love this and not that. So for me I don't think it would be beneficial or modifiable. Great post!

  4. Hey Sabrina,
I think it's great that you are able to come home and unwind in a healthy way like that. A lot of people don't. Is that a practice for you?
